I’ve been meaning to
blog this update about Went’s screenplay “With A Friend Like Harry” for some
time now, but my days have been filled with many distractions, some very lovely
ones and some not so lovely.
I was very pleased to finally read about the progress about this
screenplay written by Went.
TV director Adam Bernstein has signed on to direct Focus
Features’ remake of the French thriller “With a Friend Like Harry.”
Bernstein received an Emmy nomination this year for the
first episode of FX’s “Fargo.” He has also won an Emmy for “30 Rock” and has
helmed episodes of “Breaking Bad” and “Nurse Jackie.”
Variety reported in July that Focus had acquired the remake
rights and launched development.
Wentworth Miller is writing the screenplay. Producers are
Maven Pictures’ Celine Rattray and Trudie Styler with Michelle Krumm.
The story involves the titular Harry claiming to be a high
school classmate of a less-than-happily married man and insinuating himself
into his life. After Harry gives his new friend a taste of a life he’s missed
out on, things take a sinister turn.
The French film, released in 2000, starred Laurent Lucas,
Mathilde Seigner and Sergi Lopez. Director Dominik Moll and Lopez won Cesar
awards.
Bernstein is represented by ICM Partners.
This movie sounds like my cup of tea. I enjoy thrillers and as Went is an expert
at writing them, I’m sure this movie is going to be a huge success and one I’m
really going to enjoy a lot.
Writing this blog about Harry, reminds me of these two songs
I enjoy from another one of my favourite movies which also had a Harry in it
namely “When Harry Met Sally”.
Thank you for reading!
Goodbye!
